Captured Memories Tags

(Side Note: I had much better pictures taken of these tags. They were all straight, and didn’t have twine draped over the front and everything. And then I decided that I needed to add the dark blue reinforcing ring on the tags. And so I ended up re-taking pictures in a rush before I was headed out the door. And I didn’t notice things like the twine and the fact that they were crooked. Because that’s how I roll.)

This project was inspired by Linda’s post over on the Catered Crop blog. And when I say inspired by, I mean I shamelessly copied the idea. But it’s a great idea! Viewmasters! Seriously! (The one picture reel I remember from when I was a kid was something like National Parks or the Grand Canyon.)

So anyway, two pretty awesome people in my life have been friends for a good many years. And they both have an August birthday. And this popped into my head as a fun gift idea to celebrate a lasting friendship. I have pictures of them in the last couple of years since I’ve known them, but nothing before that. So in my super-stealth mode I asked, “uh hey, can I get a couple older pictures of the two of you? I can’t tell you what I’m working on, but I just need to scan the pictures, they won’t be harmed.” What can I say – I could have a career in espionage, right? Once I got a couple older photos, I scanned them and with my more recent pictures set about creating the picture reel on the Image 3D website. Piece of cake. They turned out wonderfully and I was very happy with them. The only unexpected thing was the center picture. For some reason I thought it would be a label, but it was printed on the same transparency material as the rest of the reel, and can only be seen when held up to the light. It’s not bad, just unexpected.

Then still copying shamelessly from Linda, I set about making tags for the boxes.

OK, I did change it up a little bit at this point…

The front of the tags:

I started with a dark blue tag base and added a light gray layer stamped with a grid background and the reel in bright blue stamped with the linen background.

The backs:

The gift box they send the viewer in with the tag attached:

I decided that I needed gift bags. I thought it would be too obvious what the gift was when they saw the tags. So I found gift bags and tissue in coordinating colors. And then I made tags to go on the gift bags. Because apparently I feel that you need to work to get to your gift.
